This Mountain Star home is filled with light, enabled by its massive windows set within a wonderful series of log posts. Visitors often state that they experience a feeling of “floating”, due to the window walls’ close proximity to hundreds of aspen trees that were carefully protected and preserved during the construction process. Paul Miller was the Project Designer and completed the original home while working for Zehren and Associates. RMT Architects also desinged a 3,600 sf addition to the residence, completed in 2003.

The Saunders Residence Addition is a 3,600 sf addition to the existing residence. Attaching above the existing garage and using a bridge to span over the existing driveway, the addition takes advantage of spectacular views of Beaver Creek Mountain as well as the Gore Range. A stone and glass tower serves as a central stair hall for the addition. The design uses materials in a manner that blends with the existing house, contrasting a heavy stone base with expansive window walls above.
